DE TRUT

FUND

According to the statutes of the Trut, the profit of the party on Sunday night must entirely go to (small-scale) LGBTQI+ activities worldwide.

HOW DOES THE FUND WORK?

Because all employees in De Trut work voluntarily and the costs are relatively low, a nice profit can be made, despite the low drink price.

The articles of association stipulate that the profit of De Trut must be spent on "small-scale, non-commercial potter and fagot (LGBTQI+) projects that are not or hardly eligible for subsidy elsewhere". In addition, the subsidy from the fund for the activities to be subsidized must not be the well-known drop in the ocean.

COMMISSION OF FIVE

After deduction of all costs incurred by a company like De Trut, an annual amount remains that is made available to the subsidy committee. This committee consists of (at least) five members, of which three members form the board of Trutfonds.

The committee meets every two months. During this meeting, the committee decides on applications for subsidies (you can apply online, see bottom of this page). If the committee honors a particular application, the applicant will be informed in writing and the subsidy will be paid.

Presentation of a check of € 25,000.00 for the LGBT department of Human Rights Watch on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Trut in December 2010.

INSIDE AND ABROAD

The applications for subsidies vary widely. Worldwide, the fund has sponsored projects in the field of HIV and AIDS education, helped pay for brochures for potty and fagot groups in South American countries, supported care projects for AIDS patients etc.

The Fund has not only been active abroad. The "tolerant" Netherlands can still use money in many areas to help people. This ranges from staging plays, exhibitions about special people, publishing books, holding workshops, supporting youth groups, etc.

GRANT APPLICATIONS

If you want to submit an application to the fund, you can only do so by filling in the application form (at the bottom of this page) with all the relevant information about the project.

Legal entities such as associations and foundations would do well to also include annual reports of accountant or bookkeeper for the last three years. This only speeds up an application.

REQUEST REVIEW

The application will be discussed and assessed in the next meeting. Stichting Fonds De Trut is a small fund, so we have to be critical in the assessment, so keep in mind that grant applications that exceed € 2000 can usually not or not be fully subsidized.

If you want to submit an application, keep in mind that there is a meeting only once every two months. If we need more information about the application, the timeline can be quite long.

You can submit applications for a wide variety of projects. However, it is important to realize that a gay emancipatory goal must always be served. It must be smallscale and the contribution from the Fund must be substantial to the project.

The following projects are in any case not eligible for subsidy:

- Large and small-scale commercial projects.

- Payment of salaries and travel expenses.

- Private projects that are not gay emancipatory.

- Applications for boats for the Amsterdam Gay Pride.

In principle, subsidies are one-off.

OVERVIEW

ACCOUNTABILITY

If the subsidy is given, it is important that the name of the Trut Fund is explicitly stated. In this way we want to raise the profile of the Fund and bring it to the attention of more potential subsidy applicants. We also want to receive a financial statement after the project has ended.
