  • POLICY PLAN

  • POLICY PLAN THE TRUT FOUNDATION FUND 2024-2028

Below described are the plans plans and goals for the coming years of The Trut Fund. We also explain how we are going to try to achieve our goals.

    Objective

The Trut Fund aims to financially and otherwise, in the broadest sense, support homosexual activities, particularly those that are undertaken by individuals and groups without sufficient financial resources to independently finance themselves. The foundation does this by supporting small-scale, non-commercial LGBTQI+ projects that are not or hardly eligible for subsidies elsewhere. In addition, the foundation organizes activities and/or events that specifically focus on topics such as sexuality, sexual orientation, gender diversity and diversity in relationships. We aim to create space for marginalized groups and/or people who do not sufficiently experience that space in daily life. We aim to focus on projects in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and abroad.

    Activities

The most important activity of The Trut Fund is supporting LBHTQI+ projects. Globaly, the foundation supports projects in the field of HIV and AIDS education, brochures for dyke and fag groups in South American countries, care projects for AIDS patients and activities for the acceptance of transgender persons in Indonesia. The foundation is not only active abroad. The Fund has not only been active abroad. The "tolerant" Netherlands can also use money in many areas to help people. The fund has supported performance productions, exhibitions about special people, book publishing, workshops, youth groups, etc.

    Target group(s)

Primarily, the LGBTQI+ community is the target group of our organization. Secondarily, people who fall outside this community are also the target group. More awareness for the 'Queer Culture' is relevant for everyone. Especially people who are interested in topics such as sexuality, diversity, inclusion and emancipation.

    Acquisition of income

Foundation The Trut Fund receives a portion of its income from donations and legacies. Additionally, the foundation receives a periodic contribution from Vereniging De Trut, a weekly party run by volunteers.

    Management and expenditure of assets

The annual budget is approximately €20,000, which we aim to reach each year to spend on projects that align with the fund’s objective.

We maintain a small amount of equity as working capital for current expenses (mainly bank charges). The fund operates entirely cashless and utilizes a business account at ING bank

  • HOW THE FUND WORKS

  • Because all employees of Association The Trut work voluntarily and the costs are relatively low, a nice profit can be made, despite the low drink price. The profit is paid out to The Trut Fund.

    OBJECTIVE

The official objective of the foundation is, according to the statutes: “to financially and otherwise, in the broadest sense, support homosexual activities, in particular in activities that are undertaken by persons and groups who do not have sufficient financial resources to be able to fully finance themselves.”

This means that The Trut Fund spends the money on "small-scale, non-commercial dyke and faggot (LHBTQI+) projects that are not or hardly eligible for subsidies elsewhere". In addition, the subsidy from the fund for the activities to be subsidized may not be the well-known drop in the ocean.

    COMMITTEE OF FIVE

The subsidy committee consists of (at least) five members, two of whom form the board of Foundation The Trut Fund. The committee meets every two months. During this meeting, the committee will decide on applications for subsidies.

Applications can only be made online using the button below. The foundation does not carry costs therefore all amounts received will be redistributed to LGBTIQ+ projects.

The board consists of a chairman (B. Hamwijk) and a treasurer (R. Schut). The board members do not receive any remuneration.

  • APPLICATION ASSESSMENT

  • An application will always be discussed and assessed the next available meeting. The Trut Fund is a small fund and therefore we have to be critical in the assessment, so please note that subsidy applications that exceed € 2000 generally are not or not fully subsidized.

If you want to submit an application, please also note that there is only a meeting once every two months. If we need more information about the application, the timeline can therefore be quite long.

You can submit applications for a wide range of projects. However, it is important that a gay emancipatory goal must always be addressed, it must be small-scale and the contribution from the Fund must be substantial for the project.

The following projects are not eligible for subsidy:

        - Large and small-scale commercial projects.

        - Payment of salaries and travel expenses.

        - Private projects that are not gay emancipatory.

        - Applications for graduation films.

        - Applications for boats for the Amsterdam Gay Pride.

    In principle, subsidies are one-off.

If the committee honors a certain application, the applicant will be notified in writing and the subsidy will be paid out.

    ACCOUNTABILITY

If the subsidy is awarded, it is important that the name of The Trut Fund is explicitly mentioned. In this way, we give the Fund more name recognition and thus bring it to the attention of more potential subsidy applicants. After the end of the project, we also want to receive a financial accountability.

  • APPLY FOR A SUBSIDY

  • If you want to submit an application to the fund, you can only do so by filling in the application form with all relevant information about the project. You can download the form via the button below.

Legal entities such as associations and foundations are well advised to also include annual reports from an accountant or bookkeeper for the last three years. This will only speed up an application.

Applications or other communication only digitally by e-mail.
